Originally formed in 1996 by trumpet player Les Wilson,
the twelve-piece Swing Force Big Band performs swing music from the 30’s through to more recent years - paying tribute to the music made famous by greats such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee and a host of others.
Comprising selected musicians based on their ability and enthusiasm for the style, Swing Force boasts extraordinarily talented individuals, each with a wealth of experience in most musical settings and genres, who have come together to share the exciting swing experience. The full sound of a Big Band, generated by live music from the swing era, is an infectious one. Swing Force offers listeners and dancers alike the unique opportunity to revisit the exciting sounds from the great swing era, an opportunity that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
Swing Force Big Band's three trumpets, two trombones, three saxophones, piano, bass and drums, augmented by resident and guest vocalists, complement any type of function - private and corporate events or festivals of all types - due to the diversity of its ever-expanding repertoire which is almost certain to contain everyone’s favourites. The band is renowned for its recreation of instrumental and vocal numbers made famous by the legendary bands and performers of the Swing Era, with resident vocalist Cherryn Lomas currently featuring in "The Legends of Swing"
, and "Unforgettable - With Love"
, a tribute to the enchanting Natalie Cole.
